Becky Geels: New Project Jericho Assistant!

Team Jericho is now complete. With the addition of Becky Geels (a classical violinist) as our new Outreach and Education Assistant, we are ready to tackle 2008 head on! Make sure to make Becky feel welcome. She has already been a tremendous help since her start on January 7.

And now, a note from Becky:
“Hello everyone! I am so excited to be part of the Project Jericho Team. My first few weeks have been full of many fun-filled events. From working with all the families that participated in the Winter Arts Camp to working with the Bucket Band on Tuesdays, it has been a really great experience so far. While being very informative, I also think that the Thodos Dance Workshop was partially designed to test my physical limits…which have been determined to not be very high! With that said, I look forward to working with you all in our upcoming events!”

After School Arts Program Registering!

Project Jericho’s After-School Arts Program is an in-depth arts program bringing arts experiences to Springfield City Middle School students one day a week for ninety minutes. This February students will be part of a new term that builds on the art form that students were exposed to in the first term. Roosevelt and Hayward Middle Schools are creating mosaic benches that will be permanently installed in the gardens of the new high school. Clark Middle School is exploring instrumental, choral, and dance ensemble performance. Schaefer Middle School is working on multi-media artwork that will compliment the work they have already completed for permanent installation in their middle school library. This program emphasizes a student’s ability to affect their community through the arts.

A public performance and display will be held to honor the student’s accomplishments on May 14, 2008 from 5:00-6:00 pm at the Clark State Performing Arts Center Turner Studio. Permanent art – permanent positives – if you’re in middle school, you can’t miss this opportunity! Call Kristi Limes at 937-964-9642 to sign up!
